Does milk cause you pain in the stomach? LACTANON

Selfcare products | Stomach, intestine |

Lactose, a carbohydrate in milk and dairy products, is digested in the small intestine by a specific enzyme called lactase. Lactase breaks down lactose to produce glucose and galactose, which then are absorbed into blood stream. If there is a lack of the enzyme in the small intestine, lactose is not absorbed but is passed into the large intestine to be fermented by bacteria. Poor lactose digestion can individually cause intestinal disorders: bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, loose stools and even diarrhea. The syndrome derived from lactase enzyme insufficiency (hypolactasia) is called lactose-intolerance. However, the sensitivity to symptoms varies among individuals and depends on the lactose load and dietary components of the meal.

Lactose intolerance is common in adults worldwide. It is estimated that 75 % of adult population suffers from hypolactasia. The prevalence of hypolactasia ranges from 5 % in the northern Europe (17 % in Finland) to 30-70 % in southern Europe.

LactaNON 4500 FCCU is a lactase enzyme tablet. Lactase enzyme improves lactose digestion in individuals who have difficulty digesting lactose. One tablet contains lactase enzyme 4500 FCCU which can break down about 15 g of lactose.
